Two years after it was established, Royal Nepal Film Institute produced 'Manko Baandh', Prakash
Thapa's directorial debut. Baikuntha Man Maskey filmed the movie and became Nepal's first
cameraperson. Indian camerapersons had been handling the camera in Nepal's previous films.
The film also marked the beginning of still photography in Nepali films, Manju Kumar Shrestha
was the first still photographer. Uttam Nepal constructed a set for indoor shooting and became
Nepal's first art director. This film was the first film to get an entertainment tax rebate, and also
the first to begin spot dubbing. In this same year, the Institute inaugurated its technical post
production facilities in Balaju.
