Release of Sindoor starring Bishwa Basnet, Nepal's second color film. The film directed by
Prakash Thapa ran for 52 weeks in the halls of Kathmandu, and was Nepal's first film to celebrate
a golden jubilee. Gopalraj Mainali and Basundhara Bhusal became known as Chankhe and
Nakkali from this film, and Nir Shah was seen as a villain for the first time. This film represented
Nepal in Uzbekistan's film festival. This film is considered to be the first film dubbed in Nepal.
With the song 'He Nakkali', Udit Narayan Jha debuted in playback singing. Dance director
Basanta Shrestha also debuted his dance direction from his film. This film ran in Ashok hall of
Patan, Navadurga hall of Bhaktapur, and Jay Nepal, Bishwojyoti and Ranjana halls of
Kathmandu.
