A cinema hall opened in Kathmandu for the first time, named Kathmandu Cinema Ghar. The price of a ticket to watch a film was 25 paisa. In 2008 BS, its name was changed to Janasewa. On 26 Bhadra, 2008 BS, after a crowd torched the hall following a small altercation, the history of Nepal's first cinema hall was erased forever. The first film to be screened in this hall was 'Ram Vivaha.'
